From Diagnosis to Determination: Fueled by Hope, Running for Living Journeys
Support Living Journeys!
My kids were 7 and 5 when I received my diagnosis of Stage 3 endometrial cancer.
That was in early 2017. Soon after, I became a Living Journeys client. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, and 10 weeks of radiation ending in recurrence of my cancer, I started a pembrolizumab (immunotherapy) infusion SIX years ago that I remain on to this day.
Over the course of my battle with cancer I've seen a staggering number of friends start, lose, endure, and thrive in their cancer journeys. The most personal of these diagnoses befell a dear friend (and my Colorado College roommate) in January 2023.
On November 8th, I'm meeting up with several family members and other CC Tiger friends to run the Moab Trail Half Marathon as a fundraiser for Living Journeys.
I’m setting my fundraising goal at $17,000 — a meaningful number, as 2017 is the year I was diagnosed. This will be my third LJAC, and I’m proud to take part once again in support of such a special organization. I can’t wait to crush it! Back in 2021, Stevie Kramer and I set a $17,000 fundraising goal honoring my 2017 diagnosis year — and you helped us surpass it. Let’s do it again for this amazing cause!
I know several clients well who are currently in the depths of their cancer journey here in the Gunnison Valley and I know all the resources that Living Journeys can deploy will help them.
It is again time to do my part to share the hope and light that this journey can reveal, and most importantly to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Look for more stories and updates over the coming weeks. Much love!
